I came to Western New Mexico University because I received a scholarship to play on the tennis team. Also, WNMU offered me the opportunity of enrolling as a student majoring on a field I always wanted to be: Business Management and Marketing.

I decided to stay at WNMU because it provides the perfect environment to develop unique personal and professional skills. As any other student, I have had the opportunity of becoming a leader and an important asset for any organization. Dream, set up goals, seek professional advice, and reach your objectives; here at Western there are no limits. That’s why I decided to stay, and I feel proud of it.

I was finishing my sophomore year in a community college in Iowa when coach Callender heard about me and recruited me for the WNMU volleyball program. Coming from Brazil, I didn’t get used to the snow so I was also looking for a warmer place to live the next two years.

I choose to stay at WNMU because the community around here is very diverse and friendly and also because I enjoy living in the mountains.

The main reason why I chose WNMU was because of athletics. I was looking for a university where I could play tennis and the Mustangs had been doing well over the past few years, so I decided to apply and I was fortunate enough to get a scholarship. Coming from a state with over 20 million people, I was also looking for a change of pace, and WNMU and Silver City seemed to offer me that option. I was also worried about my English level and I was afraid it would become an issue for me. The low professor-to-student ratio that WNMU has made it very appealing because it seemed like they would be able to help me if I needed it.

I chose this school because I got recruited by the tennis coach Yair Banuelos. Also, I met a girl who went to school and told me a lot of good things about it.

I decided to stay at WNMU to finish my degree because I like how friendly everyone is, I like how teachers really care for every student, and how I can recognize people when I walk around campus. The small size of the campus is enjoyable as I can access everywhere by walking and having tennis courts on campus is also very nice because I get to practice whenever I want.
